Ultimate Gift FHE year

Our new favorite movie is called, "The Ultimate Gift". It's one of those inspirational movies that makes you want to follow your dreams, be charitable, etc. I recommend it to everyone! At the end of the movie, they had a plug for a "ultimate gift family experience kit" which covers all 12 of the gifts. They said you could do one each month and I thought I could make up my own! So far it is wonderful to have a "theme" for each month, and I am not quite done yet, but I like what I have so far, so for any of you needing ideas here you go:

Happy Birthday

Well, Dave is officially 32! His birthday was yesterday, and the kids made homemade presents for him. He got a mountain scene from Braden, complete with a telescope (rolled up paper), a "submarine" from Brooklyn - with help from Tina, and a cute homemade envelope with hearts that said things Tina loved about her Daddy on them. And I made him oatmeal cake (yum). Unfortunately since we started Weight Watchers, I calculated the points, and one piece of cake is as much as a dinner is!! Oh well, we enjoyed our one piece anyway!

Dave also started P90X workout system which is intense! It'll be interesting to see what March brings. I on the other hand started Jillian Michael's 30 day shred, so I'll see what Feb. brings:) I can only devote 20 min a day vs. the hour Dave spends!

I think the biggest gift for him this year has been that HE GOT A JOB with Malt-O-Meal. It's a local factory that makes cereal. He is really excited about having a job with awesome benefits, not too much responsibility (he'll be able to leave work there!), good friends, upward opportunity, and a new schedule. He started tonight, (thus the extra computer time for me) and works graveyards, so it will definately be a change for us. This is definately something we are all grateful for!

Happy Holidays

What an interesting Holiday season it has been for us. We have been able to focus more on the important things this year and realize how truly blessed we are. Here are a few things that happened in December:

Our Piano recital on the 8th.

Our annual line up.

Cole's 4 month picture...Isn't he an angel!

I made 10 bags to sell, pajama pants, a new stocking for Cole, and some gift bags. Dave made banks for the kids, blocks, and keeping the house clean in the meantime. December has also been full of job searching, new business ventures, keeping up with the grill, and our kids. We feel so overwhelmed with all the support and blessings from friends and family.

We had a fun 30th. My sister, Joanna, is now officially an adult (which is weirdly wonderful). She turned 18 on the 30th and we got to play a game with her and go out for lunch. We played "store scattergories." You roll the dice and chose a letter and go around the store putting things in the cart that start with that letter. Whoever loses has to put the winner's cart items away! Unfortunately we were playing with my mom, who is the almost the world's most experienced shopper (my grandma surpasses everyone). So the birthday girl had to put my mom's 47 points away!! We had fun though. Here she is with her teammate and point "B"raden. Yes, she had the letter B:)

Our new years was very relaxed. Dave watched football almost the entire day, and I read "Forest Born" by Shannon Hale almost the entire day. The kids played the Wii (their big Christmas present from Santa this year). We hope you all had a great holiday season too. It is nice to get your Christmas Cards and feel updated.
We like to come up with a theme for each year, and so this year is 2010, a time to begin! ( It keeps changing).
Happy Holidays everyone!!
